Sweetlings...

Typical Sunday:
4 cats/kittens on the couch, sharing the afternoon sunshine...
The lint-catcher delivered, not to the kitchen this time, not to the hallway, but all the way to the bedroom...
And finally, much later, as the human goes to bed to read, 5 in the bedroom, 4 on the bed, 1 looking out the window...
BTW: The human went to a wedding yesterday, and brought home a high tech "ice-cube" - which Cyrrie, at least, thinks is way cool....
(No pun intended.)

Poltergeist?

Or Kitten/z??
At least 4 times now, the human has hurled the mysterious lint-catcher down the basement stairs, only to find it, sometime later, mysteriously returned to the main floor... Kind of creepy, huh?

Human Here -

OK, I did not put it back in the laundry tub.
I did throw it down the basement stairs...
So what is the baskety-thing/lint-trap doing in the hallway???

Special Treat For Kittens

When the weather finally fell below ferocious/scorching/etc, the human was able to open the window, and the kittens were able to sit together in the window well, watching and smelling the grass get cut...

For Emrah! Color!! 2 out of 3 tri-color girls...!!! (That was redundant, wasn't it? Tri-colors are as near to "always girls" as "almost always" gets, or so I've heard...) Posted by Picasa

Finding Their Own Toys, Yet Again

Upside down it looks like a little flying saucer. It's a maybe 5 inch diameter rubber disk, with a baskety thing in the middle. It belongs in the basement, in the laundry tub drain, where it catches lint (and cat hair) from the washing machine... It does not belong in the middle of the living room floor.

Pathos

Human comes home, checks the food bowl levels, which are, suprisingly, quite high... So she goes about other business. 922 cats - and kittens - express shock and horror! Human reasons that Fancy Feast every day ceases to be a feast - and so, with dramatic reluctance, cats - and kittens - begin to cruch and munch their ("good", actually) (i.e., not health food) crunchies... Boy, is she ever hard hearted! Can we form a PAC or something?? Is there a KCLU???

Literary Cyrrie explores the pie-safe/bookcase (which is actually a beautiful scarlet, thank you very much, human, for inexplicably/inexcusably using b & w film!)... Posted by Picasa

Sigh... (Or, kthunck...!)

This morning the human found, in the middle of the kitchen floor, a brass candlestick, previously located in a - theoretically - kitten-safe place....
What does the human do? Revise the theory, of course.....

Human Comes Home

Well, eventually...
We understand that she has to go first to the Grand-Human (whom we like) and SpittyFace (our cousin or perhaps closer relation)...
Anyway, our human comes home, and we get treats, etc. - now let's see what else we can weasle out...??? (Fancy Feast, Fancy Feast, Fancy Feast!!!!!)

A Typical Kitten Morning

When the human got up, the kitchen was wall-to-wall in crunchies, but, say kittens, there was really no justification for bringing in the vacuum cleaner...
Later Cloud spent more time with her squirrel, who may or may not know that he (she?) is spending time with Cloud...
Later still, Cyrrie coyly managed to get caught, and petted, etc.

Boring!

Ok, I (aka the human) admit it, the artsy b&w pics are pretty poor...
Does anyone care if Cloud's tongue is plastic surgery reshaping my nose because she can't get to my toes? Not if it's not in color they don't....

Windows

Cloud has a good morning on the window sills - 1st, she gets to watch the lawn sprinkler in action! Then, only 3 inches and 2 panes away, she gets to watch her squirrel take a long bath, kitten style!

Cyrrie Purrs Outloud

Little Cyrrie usually purrs when you catch him - you can feel his little throat buzzing... The other day he inadvertantly advanced to purring outloud, and it actually scared him! And to make things worse, the human laughed!! This morning, he followed his human around until she picked him up, and he purred outloud right away. She thinks he was showing off his newly developed super-power....

Water Envy

Cyrrie is not the only kitten to have discovered the dining room window -
When the human came home early this evening, the first thing she did was water the outside flowers. Then she looped up the garden hose, came up on the porch, and saw Cloud, in the dining room window, staring out wide-eyed/wild-eyed (crazed?)... What was that strange mobile thing, that produced way more water than any faucet yet encountered??

Hmmm...

It was dark, inside and out, when the human finally came home... In the dark dining room window there was only a dark grey suggestion of a kitten, but when the human tapped on the window pane, a little kitten paw tried in vain to tap back. Then, the human finally inside, the kitten approached his very own personal human, and - what is this? Strange kittens' scent on human hands/fingers! Where has she been? Who has she been petting??

The Politics Of Place

Or, Battle of the Bed, again...
It's light out but still early. The human is awake, but waiting for the alarm to go off, and Petunnia is on the pillow by the window - then Lucy decides to come aboard. She gets a pet, then settles in with her head on the human's knee. Petunnia can take only a few minutes of this. Soon she is on the human, restlessly patrolling her torso, turning in circles, tail lashing. The human says, as usual, Be good, be sweet, and eventually Petunnia settles, too, purring, kneading the human's neck, and therapeutically (for Petunnia, that is) washing the human's chin. Her tail, however, is still lashing. When Lucy gives in to temptation and bats it, Petunnia proves that she, at least, can purr and hiss horrifically all at the same time. Lucy slowly but prudently departs.

Thwarted Kittens

So.
The human comes home with a care package from the grandhuman.
The usual - the print newspaper, this and that, which this time included a package of home-made oatmeal cookies (the grandhuman's speciality).
Now, the last time this happened, the absent minded human absent-mindedly left the cookies on the - now-infamous - dining room table, only to be found by kittens and eventually turned over to the local bird population.
This time, the absent-minded human absent-mindedly left the cookies on the now extra-infamous dining room table.
Some time later she became aware of kittens, studiously prowling the dining room table.
Hmm.
Well...
What?
It finally dawns on her that they are, in fact, using their kitten x-senses to slowly zero-in on... cookies!
The heartless human at first seizes the cookies and stashes them in a cupboard.
Shortly thereafter, her non-heart softens and she actually eats a cookie - solely for the purpose of sharing it with... kittens!
Please note: She certainly would have shared it with cats as well, but they are much too mature and dignified to eat cookies.
