This blog is the ongoing story of nine-hundred and twenty-two cats, including kittens. We consider on a near daily basis the poetics of cat sensibility - the wit, brilliance, elegance and magic of catdom. We try to ignore hairballs and their sound effects.

Hello, I thought you would be the perfect person to ask about my girlfriend and I's cat Jasmine. She is a female short haired clico that is about 4 yrs old. We took her on from some new homeowners.
She is quite comfortable now in our apartment but she had a patch when we got her and the patch has gotten bigger on her back.
She pulls her fur out on her back. We brought her to a vet and she got a cortisone shot that didn't work for very long, 3-4 days. We are now trying a non allergenic food trial for a few months. Any pointers?
Hi, Beo! Hi, Jasmine!!
First we have to explain that our human has absolutely no expertise in either veterinary medicine (she just takes us to the bad place) or cat psychology (obviously). We have heard of kitty prozac, although our drug of choice is non-perscription strength catnip. Maybe there's a nice (hard to believe, we know) veterinarian near you who specializes in cats and kittens!
Good luck, Jasmine, we'll put you in our kitty prayers. Let us know what happens...
