A Perfect Storm
Why did we keep the kittens - who have way outgrown that font, btw. Was it just time? That they'd been here long enough to glue themselves into the family? Was it that little Angel had been so pitiful that day he'd first gotten sick - 1 lb, 2 oz, w/ a fever of 104' f? The false FIV thing, which seemed to render them unadoptable? Or AreToo's carefully choreographed seduction of first the human, and then Cyrrie? Or was it just fate? Or their guardian angels, who were working overtime afterall, and maybe just couldn't pull off one more miracle (yea! angels)? Whatever, they are now a funny and feisty part of this little family, and will just have to put up with Cloud (who will equally have to put up with them). (Not besotted, not besotted...) (At least no more besotted than with any/all of them...)

Messing About
How can the human tell when AreToo has been digging up the poor shrimp plant again? Is it the dirt on his paws? The sweet earthy smell of the potting soil?? Or...

Who Knew?
Now that we have a new roof over our heads, we thought we'd be able to fix the living room wall and go on taking pictures for the blog... But it turns out that the plaster is still wet from the leak, and may take a month or longer to dry, and only then can the repair and repainting begin. Guys: Start being cute in other venues....!
Yo, Stevie!
Ears!! On the back of their ears - speaking of the "A" team here - there is this progression from lovely brown to apricot to fawn... Unspeakably exquisite. And then there's when the light is behind them, and their porcelain fine ears are aglow!!! (Human disclaimer: I am not, nor ever have been, besotted.)

Conflict Resolution
When little Cloud slugs little AreToo for no good reason, the only answer is... treats - for everyone!

We're Way Late!
Lots of catch-up blogging to come - cats and kittens prematurely in the attic (to the human's acute dismay); Cloud's terrible acting out; the price of FancyFeast; etc., and, of course, some sort-of-cute pics...

It's Done!
Getting a new roof is very noisy, and takes all day, but cats and kittens came through. When the construction crew took lunch, so did we - FancyFeast, of course...

Whew!
When the human left for work this morning, she was reasonably sure that Banshee was ok (she was ok the night before, and there was a definitely logical working theory as to her absence) - but it was still a great relief to come home tonight to a full cat-count..!
She Outsmarts Herself
We've been up for hours, and Banshee is once again in hiding. But as of today, she doesn't have to take the Antirobe! Silly girl...

Found In Attic
Clear evidence of a mouse nest, without - it should go without saying - any mice... Let us hope that when the mice realized that cats - and kittens - lived here, they simply moved out of their own accord...

Helping Himself, Again
Who ate the human's plum? (Well, not exactly "ate" - more like chewed up sufficiently to render it inedible for his human.) Oh, Cyrrie...

What They Really Want
Long Day. Long week, come to that. But at the end of the long day, Banshee was properly medicated, everybody was FancyFeasted, and then there was this kitten who was seriously irritating his human... As she tried to do the dishes, he climbed her, twice! (He also chomped her knees.) And when she was cleaning out the basement litter boxes, he climbed her again. What? she said. You can't be hungry!! Then she took the garbage out. And then she sat down to rest and read. And then the kitten climbed into her lap, and purred and purred and snoozed and purred some more. Oh, said the chagrined human. That was what.

Smart Or Smart Aleck?
Having figured out that morning = medicine, Banshee just doesn't show up this morning. She is not in the basement, where she was easily caught before. She is in the computer room, behind a chair, between 2 bookcases, with a blanky around her like a force field. Plotting revenge - or at least a change in the medicine schedule - the out-smarted human leaves for work...

Wouldn't You Know?
Human home, everyone being totally and utterly and astonishingly adorable, and the camera's batteries need recharging...

Hallucination?
It was still dark when the human thought she saw kittens - their swirls, even their little heads/faces... Later, w/ more light, it turned out to be just a blankie...
The "B" Word
This morning Banshee did not show up for second breakfast, forcing her slightly worried human to hunt her down (basement, on a pile of old terry cloth robes), tote her, towell her, and mostly get the medicine down her throat. Mostly. Then Banshee condescended to eat her FancyFeast... (The "b" word is... brat!)

Banshee Doing Better
In between breakfasts, Banshee was nabbed, towelled, and successfully medicated! And she has a good appetite, which I hope means her mouth is healing well...

No Justice
This morning most of Banshee's 2 cc's of antibiotic ended up on me, plus she's now mad at me...

Stressful Start To Week
1) Everybody's fasting until it's time to catch Banshee and bundle her off to the vetz... 2) Car won't start (my fault for leaving the lights on again), so, just days after making fun of kitty strollers, I am walking, toting Banshee in the shoulder bag cat carrier - fortunately we're only a few blocks away, but there were sirens and dogs to make things extra interesting... (Hopefully Banshee will come home tonight, and hopefully she'll be good about taking her meds.)

"Plan... F?"
Happy endings, revised: Kalamazoo fell through, but, one way or another, adorable little Tink will have a good home...

Now I Really Have Seen Everything
Kitty strollers! I'm trying to imagine what Cloud would say if I zipped her in and we went for a walk...

Happy Endings
Not in chronological order:
The feral mother was trapped, spayed, and taken by a cat-rescuer to live on a farm.
Miranda, who really was FIV positive, was accepted into a truly wonderful shelter in Grand Rapids.
Of the 3 who started all this, one was adopted out of a shelter in Toledo, and the other 2 became famous at http://meerakai.blogspot.com.
And of the 6, most went to Marygrove people in spite of Marygrove itself, hopefully dissipating some of the bad karma associated with rejecting homeless infants. Little Tink, who was seemingly left by the virus they all had with some neurological impairment, will go to Kalamazoo to live with a special needs puppy. And last but not least, Angel and AreToo will be where we can still blog about them from time to time...

Independance Day Without Fireworks
Last night, like the night before, the human slept with the foster kittens, and then, early in the morning, she opened the bedroom door for all sorts of goings and comings...

FX
Our human "went to the movies today" - without our permission. Besides, if she wants good visuals and special effects, all she has to do is watch us!
Ceiling Fan Revisited
We haven't had the ceiling fan on lately, so last night when it started up the kittens reprised their original head swivelling act, which was still hysterical. But this time, they also caught the reflections in the mirrors, and raced around examining them, too...
Sleeping With Kittens
Kittens, that is. Or, as Cats and Kittens have it, sleeping with the enemy: Last night went much better, given that the human started with much better bed armor. But early this morning, when she got up for an aspirin, the kittens escaped, and the human decided, Oh, the heck with it, whatever happens happens... So the kittens finally got an unsupervised outing! When she woke up again, there were 2 tiny (although not as tiny as they should be) kittens, sound asleep on top of her. (It was a long time before she could bring herself to move.) Checking on the residents, everyone else seemed fine, although the kitten crunchies were all gone (Cyrrie!).

Back Blogging
Yesterday, desperate/conflicted, the human began the process of taking back the bedroom, or, at least, the bed. She totally unmade it, and took everything downstairs to be washed. Then, typically, she changed her mind - she'd continue sleeping on the couch. But she couldn't, the pain in her right side having become pretty much unbearable. So, taking only a few blankies, she went in late at night to sleep on the bare mattress and uncovered pillows with... the kittens! She was careful to wrap several layers of blanky around her feet and ankles, not that it did any good. Almost immediately the little monsters woke up and smelled... toes. And such (including legs, arms, fingers and bracelets). Repeated rearranging of blankies did no good. Finally the human got up, turned on the light, grabbed the worst offender (Angel, this time) and held him. No biting, she said, over and over again. No biting. No biting. No biting. She said it many many times, until suddenly Angel burst into purrs and... went to sleep. (The human slept, too, and her side feels better today.)
