Back Blogging

Yesterday, desperate/conflicted, the human began the process of taking back the bedroom, or, at least, the bed. She totally unmade it, and took everything downstairs to be washed. Then, typically, she changed her mind - she'd continue sleeping on the couch. But she couldn't, the pain in her right side having become pretty much unbearable. So, taking only a few blankies, she went in late at night to sleep on the bare mattress and uncovered pillows with... the kittens! She was careful to wrap several layers of blanky around her feet and ankles, not that it did any good. Almost immediately the little monsters woke up and smelled... toes. And such (including legs, arms, fingers and bracelets). Repeated rearranging of blankies did no good. Finally the human got up, turned on the light, grabbed the worst offender (Angel, this time) and held him. No biting, she said, over and over again. No biting. No biting. No biting. She said it many many times, until suddenly Angel burst into purrs and... went to sleep. (The human slept, too, and her side feels better today.)

Oh dear! I wouldn't want any prospective adoptive humans to get the wrong idea - they're not mean kittens! It's just that they see their foster human as a sort of giant catnip toy, but only when she'd horizontal. (Or almost only...)

They are at the chewing stage. I found that rubbing a bit of mustard on my toes did the trick. They went Yuck and gave it up for a bit. they both like to lick and mouth my hand even at nearly 5 years old!
