Up-Dates

I. Lucy
Later last night, the ointment part was unsatisfactory if not totally unsuccessful. Just now we had a good if not great experience with the hot compress, and her little butt is actually looking much better... I'm going to wait a bit before trying the ointment, and do the antibiotic after that to try to get to a 12 hour schedule. (It doesn't help to have all these curious kittens around, plus Cyrrie, who always thinks it's going to be food...)
II. Angel
Not too long after the s&w pic, Angel joined the human in the bathroom, where she was washing stockings. He evidently felt quite jealous about his stockings-washing-watching-privileges, because when Cloud came in he jumped on her, then chased her around the house. Human to the rescue! And as she knelt and talked to Cloud, who was under the rocking chair, Angel waltzes right in between them. Cloud slugs Angel, and he's all like, What...?

Lucy: I've had to lock the others out when performing Z'ber's weekly/monthly tuchus inspections and cleanings. They say they're only trying to help, but he gets embarrassed and kicks and shrieks as if he's being ritually murdered, which isn't good for anyone's nerves. Angel: Apparently is perfectly innocent of the possibility that he might annoy. Poor Cloud! (Sympathizing with them, even if they're not a victim, might induce them to visit through the space/time warp.)

Is this tuchus inspection something common to long-hairs? I don't seem to remember any problems in this arena with the Siamese.

p.s. On the picture below, Cloud has the most beautiful markings and colors.

I don't blame her for slugging the boy. Served him right, even if he had already forgotten the original transgression.

It's definitely a longhair thing, Sandy-la. The shorthairs, fat as they might get, never have a tush problem. At least none of mine. Lizzy?

Oh, brother -- and here I want a long-haired Siberian so I won't have allergy problems. Do you mean I'll have to get regularly familiar with his/her little butt?

Hi, sandy-la - There is an alternative to long-haired cats for allergic people! A friend of mine told a hilarious story about how she got her cat - that, walking in woods near her home, she and her dog found a tiny kitten up in a tree. By the time they got home, they'd all bonded, and she called her severely cat allergic husband, telling him to bring home all things cat. When he objected the word divorce came up. In the end the marriage was saved by "Dewey's magic drops". This stuff changes the chemistry of their saliva, lessening or eliminating the allergen: Acepromazine drops (you get the active ingredient from the vetz). This is the recipe: one 10 mg tablet dissolved into 1 oz. water. "They are put into a dropper bottle, and Dewey gets 3 drops daily on his food. One bottle lasts about 6 months," says Lisa, another librarian. (Or did you guess that?)

All I know is, Madame X looked at her wonderful loving cat-allergic husband and said, "I must have that darling feline!" and Mark, being the totally studly, if allergic, dude, said, "As long as it doesn't sleep in our bed, My Love!" Today, they have Sirenita and Milagrito. And they're still happily married, and still happily parenting the schlumps. I've always been allergic to cats. I just don't care, is all.

More great names! (Fortunately for me, just about the only thing I'm NOT allergic to is... cats and kittens!

To which I can only reply, "Well. If you're going to have 922 of them, I suppose that's a good thing." Milagrito is a very handsome gentleman with a white shirtfront (tuxedo, of course). And Sirenita is entirely black. Unlike my beloved Mephisto who was black from nose to tail, but had one white whisker.

Thank you for the tip! I've never heard of this before. I'll look into it. The only other problem I would have would be financial. Vet bills are horrendous nowadays and I'm on Social Security Disability. I wish there was some kind of price break at the vets for low-income folks. I would feel horrible if I couldn't afford proper vet care for my "baby." Even 20 years ago, when I took the two Siamese to the vets, I never came away with less than $150 or more. And that was just for the basics like shots and flea baths, etc.
