OK, if you're doing this on a different computer then the problem lies in something that you're doing rather than your computer or Blogger (which no longer seems to be bloggered).

So: I presume you are loading the gifs or jpegs onto the C drive of whichever computer you're using?

And then selecting the picture icon in Blogger? Are you working in Compose mode or Edit HTML mode? Because in Edit HTML mode you can actually see the code that represents your uploaded image.

Although there must be something else going on if you consistently upload the pix and they display and then disappear. Let me check their FAQ and get back to you.

Report to the Mothership:

* Posting images to Mail2Blogger from an iPhone will not work if you include text in the email body below the image. The image will appear as a broken image on the blog. (known issue as of January)

There's been a long-running issue with uploading images. There's also a Picasa issue. Are you a Picasa user? Do you get an error code when trying to upload? I can't find anything else in their FAQ right now, and I only know one other user who has the same problem as you do, but in her case it's totally random and will occur in one out of ten images that she posts. Hmmm. Will research further.

Hi,PoliticalCat - thanks for trying to troubleshoot my problem. I'm actually typing this for the second time, because just now when I went to publish my comment, I got a message saying that operation had already been performed. But back to the earlier weirdness, I do use Picasa and it was weird this mornng, with the pictures showing up as drafts. I published them from there, until Buddy's post worked normally. And then, of course, the other ones disappeared...

Hi, Lizzy,

Dropped by in the middle of my writing project for an emergency cats&kittens fix, and there they are! It's the second batch, of course.

If you have a Picasa account, Google recommends you log into Picasa before you log into Google to post. That might solve the problem.

I certainly hope so. It's hard to get through a day without a glimpse of Los Gatos de La Lizzy.
