The Bird Watchers

This morning, running late, the human apologized to the birds and squirrels, but had to hurry. She got into the car. She started the car. Then, inevitably, she turned the ignition off, got out, went back into the house and came out again with a brimming bowlful of birdseed. She drove off with a easy conscience. Tonight she came home to 2 fat doves polishing off the remnants, and 2, no, count them, 3 boy "kittens" watching avidly through the dining room window. Some good deeds do go unpunished! (Well, some little bird or other seems to have had an accident on the porch, but are we going to weigh that against the joy of bird watching??)

Hooray! The human's verbalizing batteries are recharged too! (I do love your word-pictures, Lizzy.)

Do you have any good tricks to prevent the squirrels from eating all the bird seed before the birds can get it? I am just starting to venture into feeding the birds, and it seems like the squirrels take more than their share.

Hi, mismn -
It's nice to hear from you! Alas, I have no advice on making the squirrels better behaved! They are determined and ingenious (and cute, in Cloud's opinion). I have noticed that the pedestal-style feeder lets the birds and squirrels eat at the same time... (And thank you for the kind words!)
