Bat Blogging

This morning as I sat at the computer, there was a sudden movement among the beanybaby bats - the little middle bat was unexpectedly independent of the other 2. That would have been a bit creepy, if I had not noticed a little paw reaching up from behind the desk (it was a lovely little paw, all softly olive-brown, if that's a hint).

Dear Lizzy and PC,

I've just been catching up on everything I've missed while I was gone last week. I met up with my two brothers, sister and brother-in-law in Lake Tahoe. We shared two cabins in a time-share on the north shore of Lake Tahoe.

Had THE BEST VACATION EVER!!!

The weather was exquisite - not too hot, not too cold. (But I came back to a sweltering heat wave in Los Angeles!)

The best time of year to go to Tahoe is in mid-June before the crowds of families arrive. There was little traffic and no crowds wherever we went.

I flew into Reno and my sister and brother-in-law picked me up at 7:30 pm. We drove up over the mountain to Tahoe in the midst of a perfect sunset across desert, mountain and lake, with a nearly full moon shining across the lake.

We visited mining camps (Virginia City), the Olympic Village (Squaw Valley) and south Lake Tahoe where all the resort and gambling is. We also revisited a beautiful little lake called Fallen Leaf Lake to the southwest of Tahoe. We were all kids when we last visited - 13 and younger - 4 of us.

As I said, it's been sweltering in L.A. since I returned, until yesterday when the heat broke.

It was truly idyllic. We hope to have more reunions in the future.

I was sorry to hear about Tuffy. I still miss my Keiki-boy and tears still come 20 years later.

Hope Lizzy and the 922 cats and kittens are o.k., as well as PC and her brood!

Love to you all!

Hi, Sandy - It was great to hear from you, and your vacation sounds absolutely wonderful / gorgeous (Fallen Leaf Lake, what a lovely name). And how nice that you are still close to you siblings and can enjoy each other's company that way... I'm glad to hear the heat wave's broken, too. By now you must have heard the sad news about ThePoliticalCat's mother - I hope she has help with everything she must be going through now.
Well, I'm off to work, being the late shift today! Take care!!
