Advice Requested

It's 'Toonya - she has a small bald spot on her chin - acne related, I believe - but not inflamed or infected as far as I can tell... So, should I rush her to the vetz? Or wait a bit?? Lately I've been inclined to the "wait a bit" strategy - but not for economic reasons.... Any experience out there w/ kitteh acne? Since she is totally reluctant to my closely inspecting the actual problem.... Helpz!

All of my furballs got acne at least once in their lives before I switched them to clean porcelain and glass dishes. Some, like Bandicoot, have it all the time because of their piggy habits. Their doctor says it's no big deal, just wash their little chins with warm water and soap. I sometimes swab them with cotton wool soaked in warm water, and have stopped taking them in because it doesn't seem serious.

Does Toons have a history of having more serious inflammations develop? Because if not, I'd just leave her be and give her a regular chin-wash. You know, lure her into the old lap, and when she's all calm and purring, scrub the affected area.

Today's captcha: jellyes (what happens to your eyes after hanging on teh InnerToobs too long).

Chin washes it is - is organic soap ok? I have some that's guaranteed edible, but is human edible equal to feline edible?? Oh, well, rinse well I suppose is the best all around answer... THX for the advice AND the moral support!!!

Organic soap is fine. The real issue is that the area is kept clean so that blackheads don't build up and cause inflammation on the little chin behind them. Most kittehs like having their chins rubbed, or scritched, and I find that is the best time to practice this "bait-and-switch" tactic. Rub, rub, purr, purr, wipe, scrub, rub, purr, purr. Of course, they do get wise eventually, so the trick is to do it repeatedly and intersperse it with bouts of just plain chin scritchies so they never know when it's coming. Toonya's easy, right? Right? (crosses fingers)

Today: backevo? Evolution in reverse?

Damn! My comment just disappeared!! So here's trying again: Petunnia actually does have a history zits, which sometimes got seriously ugly before they got better. We'd to to the vetz. We'd get the washes and the salves, both of which got all over everything without seeming to do much good. Even worse was 'Toonya's sense of being harassed. She got to where she didn't even want me to look at her chin, which, of course, didn't help. But I am going to attempt the deprogramming/reprogramming suggested above! New captcha - gract! (Gracefully cracked? I kind of like it...) Marygrove aka Lizzy - or is it the other way around...

Been worrying about Toonya (threw my back out today trying to vacuum the very hairy bedroom, so what else did I have to do?). How is she responding? I find water at human body temperature is best. I take a bowl of slightly warmer water to the bedstead, then lean over the sleeping Boy, a quick dip of cotton swab into bowl, and a swift wipe of chin while he sleeps. It also helps to do it right after each meal. The little piglet (Bandicoot, I would never use such language on YOUR kids) tends to get food all over his face when he eats, so a wipe up afterwards helps tremendously. Sometimes I sneak up on him with a face towel pre-dipped in warm water with soap. He's a good little fellow, though, never seems to mind.

And 'Toonz? How is she?

Today's captcha, gensab, sounds like some sort of title, doesn't it?

I was going to leave well enough alone and sneak off, but the next captcha is UNDIE, and how could I possibly leave that alone?
