Invasive Species

They migrate. Originating in the toy basket in the bedroom, octopi have washed up in the front room, dining room, kitchen, hallway, computer room, even in the bathroom... Thank goodness for kittens! The only known predators of ubiquitous octopi, kittens seem to be preventing an octopus population explosion...

Everyone is asleep but Cloud and the human. Cloud is bored, so the human shows her the blog. Cloud lap sits with her paws on the desk, watching rapt as the human scrolls back through April... When the 15th comes up, Cloud moves forward until her nose touches the computer screen! The human is seriously bemused...

Conclusion To Complaining

Buddy does not complain - he never does (well, hardly ever); he just looks sadly and says, But I missed you!
Petunnia does, of course, complain. She complains abut the complaining. She complains about having no one but her siblings to complain to... She does not go quite so far as to use bad language.
Human promises: "Amends" will be made (they will probably include Fancy Feast)....

Getting To Work On Time

Human work, that is. Cats and kittens are always on time...
So. The human has to go to work, to bring home - not the bacon, but the Fancy Feast! This is important, then... Coat, purse, brief-case, yes. Fountain is flowing. Top up the food bowls. Then, inventory: Dining room table-top, double occupied. "New" couch, occupied. Morris chair, occupied. Bed, occupied. But then, where is...? Not under the dining room table. Not in the bathtub. Ok, start over. And, finally, Cloud materializes from whatever x-dimension she was visiting. And so, with 922 cats properly acounted for, the human gets... to go to work!

Water-Spilling Observed

In the interests of cathropology, the human fills the old water bowl and places it in the bathtub. Her mutant water-sense activated, Cloud comes running. She jumps into the bathtub, then realizes the human is still there. It's a real cultural/ethical dilemma for a kitten - should she allow a non-cat to witness the special rituals of water-spilling? There is a very long pause... Then, the water-temptation becomes overwhelming. She bites the edge of the bowl and jerks upwards. Water spills! And she races after it all the way to the drain, where she crouches in fascination as it disappears, then looks up in sad disappointment when it's all gone. But wait! There's more where that came from!! So it's back to the bowl for another round. She seems to get about 3 or 4 rounds before the whole thing goes over. (And then she takes her little wet feet and wet tail and walks all over the house...)

A First For Kittens

Open window, fresh air, growing light outside, birds making lots of noises... Kittens are like, wow! Even older cats say, Yeah, this is good.

Water-Spilling: The Re-Make

We're still in in transition mode with this, so, to accommodate the older cats, the human puts the old bowl temporarily on floor.
Banshee drinks… Petunnia drinks… Even the kittens drink for old times’ sake.
Then, when the human unwisely turns her back, a triumphant Cloud nukes the water bowl!
But the unfeeling human mops the floor before Cloud has a chance to truly enjoy her accomplishment.
Where can a kitten turn for justice? Isn't water-spilling protected under the 1st Amendment??

Real Excitement

So, the human washes a pair of stockings and hangs them over the bathtub to dry…
Then she watches the kittens jump into the bathtub.
Then she watches the kittens watch the stockings drip…
Does she need a life?
Follow up: How long can Cloud watch stockings drip? 5 min and counting…

Why do 922 cats - including kittens - assume that Fancy Feast is going to be involved?!

More On Mellow

PM:
Petunnia is enjoying (as is often the case) sole possession of the the bed. Then the human joins her. Well, OK. Then Buddy joins - not OK. Then the invasion -- a multitude of kittens coming and going so fast there is no counting how many... Definitely not OK. Petunnia uses bad language, and the human has to say, Be sweet, be good! Petunnia departs in disgust. (Not very mellow...)
AM:
Human wakes up to find Petunnia sleeping on the pillow, completely sweet and good, and on or about the human are Buddy and at least one kitten, also being sweet and good, i.e., snoozing... (Are we mellowing, or what?)

Quality Time

Lucy likes her human best right out of the shower, untouched by other cats (or kittens)... She lap sits, snuggles, cuddles, kneads and nibbles, all the while purring loudly, My human, mine!

Mellow!

Petunnia, in full possession of the bed, never-the-less allows 2 kittens (count them, 2!) to jump up and hang out... Wow!!
