I am afraid that a break in would allow the kitties to escape and get hurt...more important to me and you I know than material loss...
Many years ago my apartment was robbed - I lost my grandmother's wedding ring, and similar. And, for many hours, my then kitten was disappeared, too. When she finally came out from wherever she'd been hiding, I was so happy - she was worth way more to me than gold and diamonds!
