Virulent Calicivirus

What a thing to come home to: In a letter from our vetz, "Virulent systemic feline calicivirus (VS-SCV) is a highly contagious mutagen of the traditional calcivirus... This new strain is now estimated to have a death rate of approximately 60%. It is essential that all cats, whether indoor or outdoor dwellers, be vaccinated against this new strain of the virus... We recommend vaccinating all cats with two doses given three weeks apart." Oy. Oy. Oy. And so on....

Yes, it is scary to receive that, however, take it from someone who had a recent outbreak in their area- you don't want to mess around with this virus. It is highly contageous and very sad when there is an outbreak.
