Toy Stuff

In the bedroom, Cyrrie is behind the closet door, playing with... something. Considering some of the somethings they've come up with in the past, the human decides to investigate. It turns out to be a much toothed pale blue - Easter vintage? - M n M peanut! Given her state of chocolate deprivation, the human looks at it long and hard before consigning it to the garbage. (Cyrrie is aghast.)

Forgot To Say This Before

Camera batteries in need of recharging...

Big Day For Us

We had our windows washed - all those little nose smudges and pawprints, plus many years worth of interior grime (the human, who is fairly spatially intelligent, has never been able to figure out how to get to the interiors...). The Grandhuman supervised, while cats and "kittens" - who should have helped - fled to the attic. The Grandhuman was able to count up to 921 - with Lucy unaccounted - when she left, and when the human came home Lucy was still unavailable. Fortunately, within 15 min, she deigned to put in an appearance. Hugs and kisses all around....

If You Didn't Know Better

Little Wicket in the Library last week...

More Profiling

Early this morning someone was underneath the couch covers sharpening their claws - Angel! yelled the human, Cut that out! Imagine her surprise when Angel comes running from the back of the house, and Lucy, of all people, pops up from under the covers...

Tales Of FancyFeast

I.
The human is slower than usual tonight as she deals out the saucers of FF - to Buddy and Cloud, she promises: You're next in line! Right after Petunnia!! Buddy and Cloud are like, Right! As if we don't know that Petunnia is third from last...
II.
AreToo is seriously disapproved of right now - first making a mess - leaving 2/3s of his FF on the kitchen floor, then sneaking up and stealing Buddy's share (which is, afterall, Cyrrie's job)....

Updating The Updates

I.
I got to eyeball little "Wicket" - I looked up the spelling, btw - and he's gorgeous - almost a clone of Angel, even more so in person than in pictures... He's also very very sweet, working his paws fulltime waking and sleeping. He tested negative for FIV and leukemia, and had his operation today. Now all he needs is a home....
II.
Still somewhat sickly but back at work.....
III.
Just before I went to work today, I got to watch as Angel hugged Cyrrie from behind - he had both paws tight around his middle, and then he started to wash the back of Cyrrie's head. It was extremely cute and sweet, at least as far as the human was concerned. Cyrrie was not so charmed, finally managing to kick Angel in the head and flee......

Updates

I.
The Marygrove 6: Last Spring, the first kitten to be adopted out was little "Wicket" - actually not so little - at the time the biggest, boldest and probably prettiest of the lot. He was the first one picked out by new humans. He went to a young couple with children and a young cat who needed a companion. He became Tigger - his friend was Midnight - and from time to time we would hear that he was doing well... Well. A few days ago Jennifer - professional cat rescuer - heard from the humans that they had had to move and that for the time being the cats were living outside at the old home. At the end of the week they were headed for the Humane Society, and you know what that would mean. When she got there, Jennifer was shocked to discover neither male cat had even been neutered. Midnight and Tigger came back with her to Marygrove, where Midnight was adopted by our friend Pat - human to Petunnia's brother Joshua, and in mourning for her beloved Jacob, lost recently to cancer. Re-christened Wicket, and looking so much like Angel, and so far seeming very healthy, the last of the feral kittens will be fixed next week and housed until he can find a permanent home. A little little bit of goodness in a world full of so much sadness and wrong!
II.
Lizzy recovering: After 48 hours of coughing but not sleeping, the human seems to be a little bit better, thanks to lots of cat and "kitten" love and homemade chicken soup from the Grandhuman...

Sick Day

Human: Blast that sneezy little kid I sat next to on the flight from Denver...
Lucy: I'm taking good care of my human - I'm purring and purring, I'm cuddling her and kneading with my humonguous paws and I'd nibble her poor runny nose if only she'd let me....

This Morning

The human opened her eyes and there was Cyrano, snoozing sweetly in the bed beside her. She started to pet him - he has the prettiest fur - kind of like dark silver - and oh, so amazingly soft... He started to purr, and lick/gobble her fingers. Then Aretoo bounced up and settled on a pillow just above Cyrrie, and the human worried - would Cyrrie feel crowded and take off? Instead, as Cyrrie washed her fingers, Aretoo began to wash Cyrrie's ear - it was so cute, and so sweet...!

Whew!

Finished book number seven - now I can relax and get back to things like cat-blogging! (Excellent, amazing, incredible, wonderful!)

Later This Morning

The human had gone back to bed, reading hard to finish one more Harry Potter chapter before going in to work. She noticed AreToo arriving with a pounce, she noticed him twitch his furry little butt prior to attacking the bedspread, she noticed him attacking the bedspread, and then, to her complete surprise, she noticed the bedspread attacking back! What she hadn't noticed was Angel's stealthy arrival and burrowing down under the covers...

Pillow Negotiations

Early this morning Petunnia jumped up on the bed, intending to assume her rightful place on her pillow. Instead, she stopped and glared at AreToo. Be sweet, said the human, be good, be fair! AreToo was there first, and there are other pillows available... And so Petunnia was both sweet and good, settling for and on another pillow. (It was, of course, the one then occupied by the human, but hey, she was going to have to get up sometime or other.)

A Few Preliminary Vignettes

AreToo
Who trailed his human all last Monday morning? And watched her cab pull away from the dining room window? And, well, who has stuck by her ever since she got back? That's right - and who would have thought it of even a cute little droid?
Cloud
She kissed the Auntie! The human is so pleased!! (But where were the others? Mostly up in the attic, as far as I can tell...)
Angel
Who shocked his Grandhuman by attacking a sleeping Cloud? (And kept attacking her: Oh, Angel, How could you?)
Pictures
Um, sorry - They're really into the ugly pills right now - it's clearly payback!

Home Again, Home Again

But not licketty split! Updates on everyone tomorrow... (And I'm glad I resisted the temptation to buy The Deathly Hallows this morning in the SeaTac giftshop - Amazon came through, and it was waiting for me when I got home.) (Oh, and Terry Pratchett's Granny now has a kitten named You.)

Cat (And "Kitten") Deprivation, Cont.

Yesterday I petted a real black cat in a bookstore and took a picture of a painted black cat in a mural... This morning I am in a very beautiful home with gigantic windows everywhere and deep sills that just cry out for little furry butts. (No doubt the windows themselves can do without the smudgy little noses.) (Miss those little noses..)

Homesick

Here I am in a way cool internet cafe in downtown Seattle, and all I want to do is go to the blog and look at my babes! Miss ya, cats and "kittens" and human friends... After the worst travel day in my experience - finally got into Seattle about 4:00 am, home time - I got up early with jet lag and have enjoyed myself ever since: walking Pike market, shopping (earrings and books) and eating good food - but please don't anybody read that last little bit to the guys.... (PC, I definitely will call them later and tell them that I'm pining away!) (Cause it will, of course, be true....)

The Talk

I just gave the guys the talk, as in, Mom won't be here for the next five nights, but you'll be totally ok with your Grandhuman and possibly an Auntie... And did Mom mention that she'll miss you horribly, and call every day to ask how you're doing? (And she'll miss you, miss you, miss you...!) (And miss you!!)

Blankie Deprivation

True to her word, the human took all the extremely hairy towels and washcloths back to downstairs for a re-launder. Just now, she wne to resupply the dining room table top with better blankies, all the throws not currently not covering up couches and chairs. She found Petunnia lying disconsolately on the bare tablecloth, but smart Petunnia, seeing the stack of blankies, knew exactly what was up: she jumped to her feet, and as soon as the first blankie was in place, she revelled on it, appreciating the sense of place and boundaries and, above all, being first...

Such A Good "Kitten"

Earlier, Angel drove his human absolutely crazy trying to get into that window, getting his claws caught over and over again in the lace curtains. Now that he's sound asleep, however, she is so besotted that she cannot even disturb him to look for the phone, which is probably right under that pillow...

FancyFeast Update

Human absolutely refuses to give them 4 cans of FF - whenever she does, they make terrible messes and waste a lot - so 3 it is, Guys, live with it...!

Not Entirely Atypical

Last night the human left a new bag of crunchies on the dining room table (she really does know better); this morning there were 2 holes chewed into it by someone who shall remain AreToo. He must have been quite disappointed to discover that it really was the same health food crunchies that are currently in all their bowls...

Typical Morning For Us

Eventually Cyrrie is convinced that the human's inhaler is not food, but Angel still thinks that a razor 1) is a toy and 2) is his rightful property.

Jelly Side Up, Or, The Other Kind Of Mouse

A little while ago, the computer mouse was dead. And just yesterday I happened to have bought batteries! How often does that happen, I ask you?

Where Are The Behavioral Scientists When You Need Them?

Just now I cleared out the floor of the bedroom closet - everything - 2 pairs each of boots and shoes, 1 pair each boots and shoes still in boxes, 2.5 pairs of slippers - plus 1 mouse and 2 feathers... But before I could start to put things back in a more orderly fashion, the closet filled up with boy "kittens" - all of them. And they're still there...

They Take Boring Pills

Just for Sandy I set up a YouTube account today, but so far my attempts to video any of them have been pathetic. If I want to take their still picture, they won't sit still. But now when I want them to move, they won't do that either. And they turn their faces away... But I'll keep trying!

Cold

AreToo seems to have read more into yesterday's nose bump than Cloud intended - all morning he tried to play with her, and all morning she heartlessly rebuffed him...

Tricky, But I Got The Cursor Into The Box

Original title: Human Loses Her Mind. (Favorite internet cat shopping site has a sale going on...)

Answer must be Yes...

Comfy, Angel?

A Title! Finally

Just now when I opened a new bag of crunchies and everyone came running, Cloud and AreToo approached each other and touched noses! No smacking occurred and bad language didn't happen either! Soppy human exceedingly thrilled!!

Sunday, July 08, 2007

Wha? Still no titles?? Ok, ok, so we pruned the catnip and brought the prunnings inside and, suprise! suprise, everybody just went nutz... (Yes, I know, I should have taken pics, but sometimes laziness just rules.)
No title again! (And I tried clicking above the box, too.) But anyway: Earlier, after her walk, the human came home, collapsed on the couch and decided to listen the the rest of the Linda Rondstadt song on her mp3 player... 5 little guys - both sets of "kittens" plus Buddy - came and sat in a semi-circle around her, staring at her face. Or, was it at her ears? Could their very acute little ears have been hearing Linda? When the song was over and the human turned off the mp3, they all wandered away... ("Long, Long Time," in case you wondered.)

Big Time Water-Spilling

Thursday's Post

Yesterday morning, trying to get ready for work, the human made the mistake of looking up the attic stairs for signs of cats or "kittens". And, lo and behold, right at the stairwell's edge, underneath the bed, was Cloud. Hi, Sweetie, said the human. But a few minutes later, when Cloud was still crouched in the same spot, the human began to wonder. So, instead of scrubbing her teeth, which had been the plan for that particular moment, she went up the stairs, and there, just where Cloud should have been able to get out from under the bed was... Angel! Just lying there, looking oh so innocent. So the human rescued Cloud, who did not want to be rescued, and then walked her around until she calmed down (stopped chirping) and was (hopefully) safe to release onto the world...

Tonight

It's hot , and humid - so the windows are closed and the air is noisily on. And yet the fireworks are loud, louder, loudest... And, irritated though I am on behalf of my babes, all of a sudden I think of Bagdad, and Iraq in general, and well....
