New Year's Eve Blogging

Yesterday
Angel perpetrated a particularly egregious outrage upon Cloud - the worst thing was that the human saw it coming and thought she had thwarted it. Cloud was hanging with the human in the bathroom, and Angel was loitering with intent right outside the door. The human was keeping an eye out, and making discouraging noises, and it finally seemed that Angel had given it up. But not: the moment the human's attention strayed, Angel pounced, and Cloud, too, must have been taken by surprise, because she just screamed with fury. The human quickly rescued Cloud, tossed Angel, and closed the bathroom door - Cloud was so upset it seemed best to confine her for a while. Cloud did not want comforting. She did not want to be distracted. She wanted to simmer and stew and plot her revenge on the miserable Angel. Eventually, however, she played a little bit with the sash of the human's robe - really just going through the motions - and so won her freedom...
Today
Given what had happened yesterday, and given Cloud's predilection for smacking first and asking questions later, the human was nervous when AreToo joined her and Cloud in the bathroom this morning. When all that happened was they touched noses - well, the human's heart just plain melted at the sweetness....
New Blankie
One of those fleecy throws or wraps or whatever they are - it's brown and soft and warm, and they've all gone crazy for it, kneading and kneading and kneading, as if to say their human finally feels exactly right...

Petunnia Report
She seems totally fine! Human most relieved...
AreToo'd
I keep a lot of dry food on hand, and am always shifting it around so as to use up the older bags first. So the other day I came in with 2 new bags, and parked them temporarily on a dining room chair - the theory was if I left them on either the floor or the dining room table top, AreToo would find them and help himself. The chair was supposed to be a tricksy sort of compromise. Well, of course he found them, and "opened" them, both! And of course I realized this only after opening another new bag....
Adorable!
Cloud! She took cute pills today for sure! And when I went to get the camera, the batteries were going, going, gone. And don't think for a minute she didn't have it all planned out.....

Squinty Petunnia

I think it's because of the flash rather than pain or discomfort, but I am watching her closely...

Looking Characteristically Cloud

Which is to say, fluffy and intense (AreToo's on the other end of that laser beam).

Cyrrie

Looking uncharacteristically dignified...

Cautiously, though, 'cause his brother is waiting to pounce from just inside the kitchen...

Worst-Cat-Morning-Ever Blogging

Banshee, Part I
From the time I got up until I had to leave for the vetz, Banshee never let me get within 5 feet of her - and this was after my getting up 3 times in the middle of the night to try and hold her paw as she gacked...
Petunnia, Parts I and II
Petunnia I did manage to catch, but we had a terrible fight with lots of swearing and even screaming on her part, so I covered my ears and let her go. I put the soft-sided carrier up on the dining room table, popped the top on a can of FF, and poured some juice into a saucer, which I placed on the dining room table. After fending off Cyrrie, 'Toonya was tempted, was caught, and was quickly stuffed into the carrier. I turned away to put on my coat, and turning back, saw, to my ever lasting horror, 'Toonya thrashing around so violently in the carrier that she rolled herself right over the edge of the table. I almost got there in time. Absolutely horrified, I decided that the best thing was to get her to the vetz asap, and, not re-assuringly, she cussed and howled and shrieked the whole way over (only about 3 or 4 blocks, thank goodness). As it happened, there were other, more serious emergencies, so 'Toonya and I waited, not very patiently I admit. But I petted her the whole time, trying to see if she was tender anywhere, and, really, it seemed not. When we finally got to see our sweet Dr. Kelly, she thought 'Toonya had probably not injured herself in her fall. She also agreed that she was limping on her left front leg, but didn't feel any scary abnormality. We could do xrays, we could start pain meds, but we could also wait and watch, which is what I opted for for the time being.
Banshee, Part II
Much much later, Banshee evidently decided the coast was clear. Sprawled out on the dining room table, she let the human cuddle her, with only a slight undertone of smug in her purring. Surprise, surprise! The human scooped her up and packaged her in the carrier, and she got her asthma shot and then came "home again, home again, licketty split" - as we say.

Boxing Day Blogging

On Christmas Eve, we tried to do poetry:

Tis the night before Christmas, and all through the house,
Many creatures are stirring - in hopes of a mouse!

Our stockings are worn on our toesies with care,
For prancing and pouncing and just standing there.

That was as far as we got...

Food-wise, the guys have had smoked salmon, steak, sour cream and ice cream, in addition to FancyFeast. (The grandhuman was especially impressed with AreToo's ambidexterous dexterity as he finessed the salmon she was feeding him.)

Wish me luck tomorrow morning - I'm going to be taking Banshee and Petunnia to the vetz - packaging 2 of them is always iffy. (Bansh is having asthma attacks, even though we're only a month into her last shot, and 'Toonya is limping.)

So Beautiful!

Thank you, John and Nancy!

Yesterday Blogging

Yesterday I decided to let them play in the attic, cold though it was. They were up and down all day, with the door only lightly closed so that they could pop it open from either direction. I had a towel across the bottom to keep the draft down, which I rearranged every time I heard the door open. When I needed to run an errand, I did a quick count, then rattled the door handle and called - and down came Buddy, so that was alright. I closed the door firmly. I was gone for about 35 min, and it was at least 10 more before it happened: Boom! Boom! Boom! A knocking coming from the other side of the attic door. Under any other circumstances it would have been terrifying. However, I opened the door to AreToo, scooped him up for an apologetic cuddle, and told him what a great little knocker in the cause of freedom he was...
