Amazing

I have owned exactly 4 cars in my life, and, now, 4 cell phones. My last phone being 5 yrs old, I succumbed to the blandishments of Credo - a Working Assets mobile phone service - and now have 1) a solar re-charger, and 2) a phone that lets me access my blog... So, stuck in traffic, or in a waiting room, or wherever, I can go to my blog (and other people's blogs of course) and look at my guys... Mobile therapy! Who would have thunk it?

Lizzy, I am constantly amazed by the fast pace of changing technology. What seemed impossible yesterday leaps into reality today.

I woke up to find my phone service is out because of the rains we've been having. But since I have a cell phone, I'm not too anxious. My only problem is that it's a TracFone, so I've got to watch my prepaid minutes.

Hi, Sandy - My Mom was without her land line for 2.5 days - just got it back today, in fact - and knowing she had a cell phone was such a comfort to me. I hope yours is restored asap. Did you have fun for your birthday - despite or in addition to the weather?

Phone service has been restored, thank goodness!

Thank you for asking about my birthday. It was terrific - A group of friends gave me a surprise party (that I was totally surprised by)! We went to a fabulous Italian restaurant called Buca di Beppo. I had heard of it but had never been there. They have family style dining where they bring platters of various dishes to the table and then you serve everyone from the platters. We had a beautiful salad with pears and gorgonzola cheese, sugared walnuts and cranberries, plus platters of bruschetta, sausages, lasagna, and roasted pork and vegetables.

My brother couldn't make the surprise party, so he took me to lunch on Saturday and I managed to finagle another meal at Buca di Beppo (one of HIS favorite places). They have them all over the country - try to find one, if you can. The prices aren't too bad if you're sharing with several friends.

We've had about four or five straight days of rain this week. Makes for an interesting change, but we hope the fire damaged areas don't slide with too much runoff.

Hope all is well in your household!

Sounds like you had a yummy B-Day, Sandy! Weather is weird here, too, but not as scary as potential mudslides. Prayers, positives thought, and generic good energy...
