We Have Cardinals!
Yesterday when I went out on the porch, a male cardinal flew right under my nose (well, almost), and today I heard a strange bird-sound - and when I looked it was a lovely female visiting our feeder...
This blog is the ongoing story of nine-hundred and twenty-two cats, including kittens. We consider on a near daily basis the poetics of cat sensibility - the wit, brilliance, elegance and magic of catdom. We try to ignore hairballs and their sound effects.

They like sunflower seeds! We have cardinals at my mother's house, and they are so beautiful. If you keep the feeder filled with sunflower seeds, they will come every day.
--Also, they don't like the feeders where they have to cling to the side. They like to perch, and face straight in to get the food. We ended up with a designated cardinal feeder, always with sunflower seeds, and then another one for the little birds.
But oh dear, now that I think about it, this is the last thing you need: another set of mouths to feed, complete with birdie fancy feast and crunchies to keep up with. I know you are already keeping bird feeders; maybe it is better to keep it simple.
Still, cardinals! It is such an honor when they choose your yard!
Oh, hi, MisMm - I totally agree , cardinals are so cool! I actually put out a mix that includes a lot of sunflower seeds, but you have me thinking about multiple venues - oh, they are so pretty! (Probably not how Cloud, etc., would put it, but hoominz should have a say, 2...)
