Update on Angel: He did not, as predicted, reappear instantly as the door closed behind you. In fact it took something like 1 1/2 - 2 minutes! Then he spent something like 3 or 4 minutes slinking/skulking from room to room, where he's crouch and look (and look and look). Eventually, though, he turned his attention to the FancyFeast, which he gobbled. Finally, he let his human pick him up and kiss him. 5 minutes later he joined her on the couch, curled up and purring. When the human said, Angel, What were you so scared of? he looked at her as if to say, if you don't know that, I'm not going to explain...
Update on Buddy: When he finally came out from under the bed, he hit the litter box first...
