How Old Is She?

On her document of spay (or whatever it sez), our Dr. Kelly put August 4, 2008, as her "official" birfday - so less than a year, even...

That's what I kinda figured from her pitchers. Her face was so young. Bandicoot and Zingy's mom went into heat when she was a little over six months. She was a good little kitty mommy, but having them nearly killed her. She had SIX and they were all HUGE, except for her little calico girl. All the others were almost as big as her when they were born. Poor tiny little frail thing!

I'm glad Nubie didn't have that experience. My neighbour's cat had the same thing happen (pregnant too young) and it made her completely batshit crazy. She hated the kittens and kept attacking them, and then started attacking random people (she even came to my house and attacked me!) and then ran away and stayed away for two years. Finally came home, attacked the now grown and very large "kittens," beat them up, stole their food, and moved home to stay. Oy!

Makes me more than ever grateful we caught it early... Thx, TPC - you always come through! And how are you doing right now, physically and otherwise??

Twisted my knee while weeding the garden, much pain, ice, bed rest. The kitties have been funny! It's very hot, so they all become very looooong, stretched out on the marble floors to cool down. Bandicoot has taken to licking my legs (which are very rarely bare, and now only because it's hot!). It tickles! And I can't stop him because my laptop table's in the way. Squeeeal! Madu's very affectionate because he's shedding - wants someone to wipe away the bagfuls of loose blond hair. Silly boy! And Gustav's toenails are very long so he clacks around the house like a stiletto-heeled aging dominatrix, watching the kibble with eagle eyes in case someone tries to get a mouthful. Guardian of teh kibble!

The neighbour's cat used to come up the stairs to sit on the banisters of the deck. I would walk by and she would hiss and swipe at me. Very pretty little thing she was, but SO cranky! I guess I'd be cranky too if I was a teenage mommy with two HUGE kids (thank goodness she only had two).

Oh, your poor knee! I'm just assuming it's the one that was operated on...? Perhaps the tickles will be medicinal in some way! It's gone from being insufferably hot here to gloriously cool - I was able to open the windows last night, which they also enjoy. As I sat in bed reading last night, the 4 boyz clustered around the bedroom, jostling for position but by and large being sweet and good. Warmz der human's heart... Luv to your babies, L. (Lystimpi??)

Yes, it was the bad knee. Bandicoot insists that his licks will cure all. He actually is tolerable - Zingiber's tongue is like coarse sandpaper, but Bandicoot delivers sweet, ticklish soft little licks. Except I do wish he wouldn't do my nose. His breath leaves much to be desired. I just finished hugging and kissing him, and he's sitting sweetly on the pillow next to me, resting his chin on my laptop table. He's such a darling! Gustav, OTOH ... So nice that the boys are behaving! Lovz to them all, too. Including Nubie.

Great to see so many new posts, Lizzy!

TPC - I was hoping you could get back to your garden full time. I hope this is a temporary set back!

(hugs Sandy fondly) O hai, Sandy! I was back in the garden today. It is teh pain, but the thing about doing stuff you love is, the pain doesn't matter. Pretty flowers blooming, blue and white Nigella damascena, magenta bougainvillea, lilac-pink and purple buddleia, scabiosa in all colours, white through dark burgundy, and California poppies!
