Never Fails

I took (I think) kind of cute pictures this morning of Cloud and Cyrrie, but tonight, before I could post them, the batteries died...

Good Appetites

Who goes through what faster? The guys who are currently disappearing huge quantities of crunchies? Or the birds and squirrels who cleared out 2 bird feeders this afternoon alone...

Unexpected Angel

In my small and crowded bedroom, I frequently dump stuff on the corner of the big dresser: unfolded laundry, sometimes, but more typically whatever I am taking off at the moment, always promising to hang it up any minute now (not). Tonight, coming around the corner of the closet door, there was Angel! All sprawled out on a couple of hand-me-down sweatshirts (given to facilitate my cold weather protesting). I was seconds away from dropping a sweater right on him! Thank goodness my lightning reflexes prevented that horrible deed...

Morning Blogging, Cont.

The look on Cloud's face this morning after she'd galloped into the computer room to share breakfast - breakfast today being grapes and a tangerine, as she closed in on the partly peeled tangerine, her eyes narrowed to slits and then she was hurtling out of the room. Disappointed? More like devastated - so the human hunted down the last 8 inches of the peacock feather and held a romp exclusively for the little drama queen...

More Morning Blogging

Today, unlike gloomy Monday, the dining room is full of warm yellowy light, and the living room is softly and strangely lit by reflection... The pictures don't do it justice, but everyone seems to be enjoying the effects.

Audacious Angel /

Sweet and Good Petunnia: Earlier this morning, Angel jumped up on the bed, and after kneading the human for a while, realized that there was space on the pillow between Petunnia and the human, and so he slowly and carefully arranged himself in that space and closed his eyes. It's a big pillow, and so there was still space between Angel and Petunnia as well, but the human was astonished that Petunnia tolerated it - what a sweet sweet girl! (And good, of course...)

Back To Blogging

I thought we'd do a lot of blogging this weekend, but it didn't work out that way. Instead, here's a couple of mini-posts:
Cloud
The good news: On Thursday, Cloud liked the pumpkin bread pudding with brown sugar sauce! The bad news: today, twice, I ran into her with my feet (which the unkind might refer to as kicking her) - I was utterly devastated, she - thank goodness - seemed to take it in stride...
Angel
I was under the weather today, so Angel (and Lucy and Petunnia and Buddy, but mostly Angel) hung out with me. In addition to enjoying his sleepy purrs, his softness and subtle rich colors, I realized how much I also love his little kitten breath and the scent of his damp fur after he washes it...

Pre-Thanksgiving Blogging

Slight Variation
on the Daily Routine:
The daily routine has changed somewhat: now, in addition to eye-balling them all before leaving the house, checking the food bowls, replacing the water in the water bowls and topping off the fountain, now the human also checks the level of food in the bird feeder, and replenishes as necessary. Today when she went to refill the bird food, she surprised a squirrel! Who promptly ran away. Then, as she struggled with the bag of bird food and the funky little bird feeder, she realized she had company. The squirrel had returned. He was perched on the wall of the house, right under the dining room window - definitely within petting range - watching... When the bird feeder was at last full, there was still a bit of food in the bag - not nearly enough to take back in the house. So the human spread it along the window ledge, talking to the squirrel, like Hi, cutie, here, this is for you, etc. Then she went back inside. A few minutes later, leaving for work, the squirrel was on the window ledge, pigging out. He never budged as the human passed him, got into the car and started the engine. Even funnier was that right inside the window - what, an eighth of an inch away? - were Cyrrie and Angel, ear to ear, equally big-eyed, watching the squirrel - who was either completely unaware of their existence, or knew perfectly well and could have cared less...
First Fruits:
Cloud and Cyrrie share many many fingers of (light) sour cream as the human makes the salad dressing for tomorrow.

Reference Desk Blogging

Banshee
Yesterday Bansh had 3 pretty bad asthma attacks right in a row, so when I should have been going off to work I called the vetz instead, and they said to bring her in for the injection. Amazingly, I really think she's getting used to going! She's always been so terrified, howling miserably on the drive over. This time she just... talked. In the exam room she'd always curl up as if she was trying to shrink herself out of existence. Yesterday she kept her head up and her eyes open. They toted her away to give her the shot, and when when she came back she was still ok with the technician petting her and saying how good (and how pretty) she was... Mama was proud.
Angel and Cloud
Cloud was sound asleep in the Morris chair, and so - of course - Angel had to attack her. Angel was scooped up immediately and carried away to the bedroom for a very long cuddl... I mean talking to. When enough time had passed, he was released on the condition that he be a very good boy for the rest of his whole little life. Cloud had just fallen back asleep, and so - of course - he jumped her again!
Cyrrano's Breakfast
We had an english muffin, Cyrrie and I. I toasted and buttered the first half, and Cyrrie was all like, Yum, but when I added blackberry preserves to the second half, he continued to eat his fair share, but made sure I knew he preferred the butter-only version...

Well, Fancy That!

Thanks to Christy, I now know that Lucy is the 3rd most popular name for a cat, and Bella is 8th. (Lucy and Bella are also popular dog names, Bella being 4th and Lucy 5th, but perhaps we'd better not tell them...)

Why All The Photoblogging This Morning?

It's because the human has so much else to do - clean house, shop, etc. - so, by preference, she sits posting random pics from last night and this morning, all the while freezing her toes off rather than go find her slippers...
