I.
Cloud, yesterday: I picked her up to wash her little eyes, which she hates. Her revenge consisted of wrapping herself so tightly around my left arm - cutting off circulation at the very least - then nibbling/gnawing the fingers of my right hand... Since this was clearly her way of showing affection, there was no way I could escape her attentions. I wound up sitting in a hunched and painful position, while she clung and gnawed and purred. Angel came to my rescue! Just by coming into the room: his presence opened her eyes, turned the purrs to chirps, and precipitated her departure, leaving me with mixed feelings.
II.
Angel, this morning: Angel went crazy on me this morning, wildly kneading me through the blankets, so much so that I had to squirm to protect things like jugular veins and eyes... It went on and on, but, since it was clearly his way of showing affection, I couldn't risk hurting his feelings by resisting in a more obvious way. Then the alarm went off! And I inadvertently jostled him reaching for the snooze button! Angel departed, I waited for the next round of alarm, and when I finally sat up I realized what had been going on: Angel loves the new fleecy blankie, and during the night it had somehow shifted to the top. Angel was kneading his favorite blankie! Perhaps his human being inside was only incidental.
III.
AreToo, later in the morning: I was trying to get ready for work when AreToo joined me in the bathroom, sitting on the little footstool I've placed by the bathtub to help Petunnia- senior water-spiller - in and out. He looked so cute that I picked him up and toted him to a chair, where we sat together for a long time - me just holding him - hardly petting at all - and him just resting against me and purring. And purring. Etc.

Reasons Not To Go To Work
I.
When I finally went to get dressed today, Cyrrie was sleeping on my underwear. Although I would never have disturbed him, unfortunately other underwear was available...II.
As I continued to dress, the bedroom/bed filled up with cats and "kittens" - AreToo, Buddy, Lucy and Angel - all being heart-meltingly sweet and good.

If You Can't Sleep, Laugh
Angel kept attacking the kleenex box last night. I'd pull him out of it / pull it off of him, and then we'd cuddle - he'd purr madly all the while looking so silly and so proud of himself. Then - with great cunning and melodrama, he'd escape to try again. It must have gone on for 15 or 20 minutes - I really was lol. At one point I thought, Oh, just let him have it, but then thought better of actually encouraging him. Angel needs no encouragement...

Healing Properties Of Cats And "Kittens"
I am actually feeling a bit better today, even after 2 nights of coughing/not sleeping... It was surprisingly restful to lie there in the dark, surrounded by babes - specifically, AreToo and 'Toonya on pillows to my right, and Angel on, well, me. Angel takes a limpet approach to sleeping with his human - and when the coughing got so bad, he'd leave but come back in minutes to settle in again on her knees... (Oh, and Buddy, Lucy and Cyrrie popped up for a quick Hi, there, while Cloud and Banshee visited but stayed floor-level.)

Ham (ala Maddie and Ripley?)
The grandhuman sent me home with a care package - newspapers, salad, bread - and some sliced ham. I took off my coat, distributed crunchies, topped up the fountain, and then unpacked the care package, which had no ham in it. Hmm. Where's Cyrrie. And in fact Cyrrie, and the ham, and AreToo were discovered under dining room table. They had managed to get one slice out of the plastic bag, but weren't sure what to do next. So the human chopped up ham for them - and for Cloud and Angel - but made them eat it in the kitchen...

Oh, Dear!
Or, Oh, Noes! When you're clumsy (me), and there's bits of glass everywhere, and all these little paws that want to help you...

Iz Back!
Or at least it's on its way, so tired human can now invite cats and "kittens" to come to bed... 'Night, All. Love!
Eclipsed!
I had to come in to warm my feet up, but I'll go back out in a few - have to make sure it comes back, right?
Moonin'
I couldn't get to the NASA eclipse site just now, but never mind - I can step out on my porch, and there it is: about 1/2 way there... 'Mazin'!
