After protesting I spent a few hours with a friends and his cats - after the way sad loss of Tuffy, Michael generously took in another cat in need of a home... Now called Churchie, he is a gorgeous Himalayan with a sqwooshed-in nose, cobweb colored fur except where it's milk chocolaty brown (biggest paws I've ever seen) and strange eyes - somehow dark blue and silvery at the same time. Churchie has not exactly been welcomed by his prospective sibs - Ichy and Tony. And Churchie has not exactly been tactful in his role of nubie. So my role today was to hold somebody while everybody was admonished to Be good, be sweet! I held everybody at one time or other - for quite a time, each. And so I came home with a bit of tripidation, wondering what these guys would think - or sniff. So far, so good... (Any advice for Michael?)

Hi, Y'all
It's a nice evening - for the first time in forever we've got a window open - cats and "kittens " are lined up to enjoy, and I took a cute picture of 2 little boy butts, but then the batteries died, so manana for that... Early this morning I took a pic of Lucy - PoliticalCat - your warning cracked me up, but also made sense - without an atom of malice in her whole being, she could still wreak real damage on her naive/clueless human - we will be careful! Are you still bedridden? Everytime I cursingly/gratefully limp up or down stairs, I think of you and wish you all manner of hopeful and healing energies! Oh, this is funny! Angel is monopolizing the windowsill, but Cyrrie is trying hard to insinuate himself in. Good luck, Cyrrie! 3 day weekend! And then the maelstrom! On many fronts... As I drove home today I was remembering the beginnings of this blog - Cloud and Cyrano have been part of this family for 4 years, now. Amazing. And now I'm watching AreToo, sniffing stuff on the dresser and being even more jewel-eyed than usual....

Who's Interested?
Well, at the moment it's 'Toonya and Buddy - hangin' with their human and the laptop on the bed... Petunnia is actually pretty snoozy, but Buddy is quite bright-eyed! Go, Budster! (Buddy sez, This time the demz better win - or else!)
Just A Coincidence ?
Cats and "kittens" think not - that Barak Obama's acceptance speech happens on a FancyFeast night...

House Blogging
We will have new windows, and we will have a garden window - ours to be re-christened a cat and "kitten" window - but please don't tell them - it's supposed to be a surprise!
Convention Blogging
Didn't stay up last night, but listened to Hillary first thing thie morning. Amazing. As angry as I have been with her for months, now, I actually wept when she talked about the suffragettes and Harriet Tubman... Totally amazing. Also: As I drove home from A2 I heard Hillary ask to suspend the roll call vote and endorse Obama by acclaim. Chills and more tears.
Driving Blogging
I went to Ann Arbor this afternoon, and was amazed by the incredibly beautiful gren spaces between Detroit and A2 - I could feel it affecting me, calming and healing. When they talk about a nature deficiency, I think I internalized the reality of that today, even from inside an air-conditioined car on a freeway...
Psychic Angel
So, last night the human cracked a joke - Hurricane Angel - and Angel caught every keystroke: This morning Angel committed terrorist acts on every single one of his sibs - old young, male, female, etc. There were pouncings and chasings. There were involuntary wrastlings. There were cornerings and passive-aggressive chess moves par excellance. There were also rescues and clappings and scoldings - totally ignored. In between the Angel was especially needy and flirty - all kinds of versions of IAGTIC...

Gustav!
Hey PoliticalCat - How dare they name a hurricane after your babe! (Unless, of course, he think's it's cool.) (Which, I admit, he may very well...) (Hurricane Angel? Dear God, don't ever go there!)
More On Lucy
I have been working over Lucy's mega-matt for at least a couple of weeks, now, no help from Luce! Today I think we have almost got there - and I have brushed and brushed the dandruff from the almost bald expanse where the matt used to be - it just has to feel better...! (We are rigorously combing the rest of her from now on, whatever she sez/thnkz/duz.)

Technology
I just brought the laptop - plus power cord - into the bedroom, so I can listen to the convention... I may not make it all the way - up since app 4:00 am - but this is still pretty cool.... (Cats and "kittens" were pretty excited when we moved furniture to find an outlet, but now they are like so unimpressed.)
More From Lucy
Poor Lucy! She's all like, Oh, noes! Not again... This morning, out of the shower, the clueless human got her coffee and went back to the bathroom to slather sloppy stuff on her dry knees and wrist. In came Lucy, incredulous, so the human quickly towelled the lotions off her hands, scooped up the Luce, and toted her to the dining room table, where was cuddling and combing (value added).

Ok, It's Going To Be Lucy
La Luz, as she is known to some of our special friends:
I
It must have been Thursday morning. I got out of the shower and - horror of horrors - broke with the long established routine. Instead of getting a cup of coffee and going back to bed to read and rendezvous with Lucy, I took my caffeine fix into the living room and plopped the laptop on - of all places - my lap. And right away, there was Lucy, trying to come on board. Well, I didn't want her on the laptop, really. So I kept fending her off - give her a pet, push her in a different direction, have her come right back... No, sweetheart, I would say, as she came at me via the footstool or the table - Lucy, sit on the rocker and keep me company. Determined doesn't begin to say it. Stubborn is such an understatement. Finally, though, I got it. This was Lucy's quality time! How could I have forgotten? Down went the laptop, up came Lucy for her cuddle with a human at least temporarily untouched by other cats and "kittens".
Wow
I did not realize that our last post was Wednesday! (Rough work week, mostly, although I got a bit sun sick protesting on Saturday - got to start wearing a hat, I guess...) Let me go get my thoughts in order.

We're Back
Lazy human offers excuses - like stressed out about house stuff - and work being "insane". What would she know? Did she fill the bird feeder this am? And were we therefore bored, bored, bored??? And is home grown c-nip as good as store-bought? We're willing to consider, but she has to go get more store-bought first. And we really think the FF schedule should be stepped up! And the blankies on the dining room table top need to be straightened. (Lucy says, there's always an upside - she hasn't combed me since the day before yesterday, but, please, don't remind her...)

Basket Case, Slightly
I've had 2 estimates on the porch, and 1.5 on the windows - the guy who came today will give me his info Monday or Tuesday...
The funny thing is - both window guys also have cats, and were totally sympatico around my idea of having a cat window....

We Have Cardinals!
Yesterday when I went out on the porch, a male cardinal flew right under my nose (well, almost), and today I heard a strange bird-sound - and when I looked it was a lovely female visiting our feeder...
Windows
I am inclining to get the guys a "garden" window - it will be 'spensive - but they're "worth it" - right?

Another This Morning
I was sitting on the living room floor with coffee and laptop and Cyrrie. Cyrrie was delighted that he didn't have to reach so far to attract my attention - he was rolling around beside me, being petted, hugging my hand, gobbling my fingers, and mega-purring. Enter the Angel. At first he was adorable, too. He went over to the toy storage (igloo on top of stool), stood on his tippies, stuck his head into the igloo and came out with a fuzzytoy clamped in his teef. He trotted off and played with it for a while. Good Angel, I thought, cute Angel! Soon he came back to the igloo and looked in, but this he came away empty, er, teefed? Not finding a toy to suit his fancy, he looked around, looked at the innocent and happy Cyrrie, and pounced!

Twice In One Day?
Or, Oh, Noes! Not Again!
Alas, yes: When the human got home this afternoon, yet another bowl of crunchies had been totally nuked... Same bowl, in fact. Maybe we should re-position?
Vacuuming First Thing In The Morning?
There was a major crunchies event this morning. Poor human had not been up long when a newly filled bowl up-ended spectacularly - the floor was covered with crunchies, which also landed in 2 pairs of shoes that probably should not have been in the kitchen to start with... Buddy was technically the culprit, but if I say there was an angel-provocateur, I'm sure you will understand....
