Conflicted Blogging

Really and truly, I don't think the grandhuman wants the nubie to leave; and, equally really and truly, I think said nubie would like to stay... But, alas, I think it's going to happen on Thursday, and the best I can do is say I'll bring her back for visits! (Offer accepted!) Sigh...

How Old Is She?

On her document of spay (or whatever it sez), our Dr. Kelly put August 4, 2008, as her "official" birfday - so less than a year, even...

Looking Back

While I retrieved these pictures I looked over the first ones I took of the nubie - so gaunt! While still quite slender, she looks ever so much better now - really looking forward to posting pics of her once she's here for keeps. Name suggestions welcome!
  • Jack (or Jackie) the Nipper
  • Val / Valley Girl
  • Nanette (as in no, no)
  • Bebe (as in be sweet, be good)
  • Natasha
Anything??

But it documents a sweet and good moment...

Wow, I Wuz Tired!

But we're back!
I
Sunday morning I tried to take Cloud's picture again - she was in that window over the bookcase with all the back-lighting. However, a ray of sunlight was reflecting off the camera lens, and Cloud just had to chase after it. I enjoyed her antics, while simultaneously being sad about not being able to share....
II
I'm giving them all "the talk" - the no-name-nubie still at the grandhuman's, and the soon to be integrated club at 922. I am looking forward to Thursday evening with great curiosity and abject terror. (Haven't done this in a while / getting kind of old...)
III
Cheated, sort of: I moved FF back a night - instead of Sunday and Wednesday, we're doing Monday and Thursday - so we'll all associate the moving in of the new junior girl with that best of all possible things, FancyFeasting!

Human Is So Tired

And Cats and "Kittens" are so laid back right now... Manana. (Just imagine the tilda....)

Stopped By The Grandhuman's First

To check on Baby's incision - looking good!

Pls Forgive...

Human was at a 2-day work related retreat - she took her laptop but lacking immediate and actual cats and "kittens" was unable to post... 2 day weekend ahead - let's see what happens!

Human Is Wiped

Been dealing with grueling work conditions so far this week, so I'll just say real quick the 922 regulars are doing great - loving, nagging, charming, cuddling up their human - who's trying to prep them for you-know-what: talks of promotion from juniority to seniority, etc. Do you think they're listening??

Nubie In Disgrace

She "nipped" the grandhuman and drew blood. On the positive side she behaved quite well while I was there tonight... Health-wise all seems well.

Little Miss No-Name Is "Home"

She came through her surgery really well - I didn't tell yesterday, but she actually was pregrant - and is back at the grandhuman's. I stayed with her for about an hour (grandhuman not home this morning) - she ate, drank water, played with her mousie, and finally spread out on a glass table top (cool?) looking out the window. (That she was pregnant was traumatic for me, but I'd considered the possibility and had my decision already made - I'm just glad I didn't wait a couple more weeks before getting her back in...)

Sandy and TPC Blogging

I'll get back to you soon - it was a rough re-entry into work today...

Great New Blogging!

Little Icky - now I'm not sure how to spell it - is home! Lost for 3 weeks, his human found him in good shape locked up in a vacant house(?) (or something) (when I get the details I will share them)... Oh, Yay! It makes this human's day!!

Good News Blogging

Little nubie came through her surgery - gets to come home tomorrow...

Update/s

First, the good news - power iz back! I was able to come home around 5:30 am after our dark and drenched but successful run to the airport...

Alas, I am certain that baby-girl is in heat - nothing to be done until Monday morning, however, but we have an appt to have her spayed then if all else is well....

And good news for Tony and Churchie - their human is back!

Woes Iz Us

First bit of bad news - I think the nubie is going into heat. More about that later...
Second bit - My friend Sue has to be at the airport tomorrow at 5:00 am! So made our plans - stowed her suitcase in my car - decided I'd call her at 4:00 and pick her up at 4:30... Then I went on down the street to the 922s... And found out that I had no power! I fed and tended to the babes by candlelight, then came back to the grandhuman's so as to be sure of fulfilling my chauffeur duties in the wee hrs.
I just had to boot up the grandhuman's antique computer to do some bitching blogging. Thx all for listening!!

Michael/Tony/Churchie Blogging

Yikes!
Part I
I felt like I was running short on paper toweling, and so I brought a roll with me today. Then, when I tried to pick up the auto-water-thingie - and it fell apart in my hands - and flooded your kitchen - I used most of the new towels in mopping up. Even though it didn't need it, your kitchen floor got mopped.
Part II
Last night I bragged that Tony was staying in. Ha! It never pays to be cocky... Today he outsmarted me and was out before I knew what was what. Fortunately I had earlier observed him trying to break into the catnip container, and I took it out with me and got him! Once inside I told him that tomorrow was freedom, liberation, etc., and then remembered that in fact, tomorrow is all of those things, being Juneteenth!

Sandy Blogging

Oh, Sandy - it was so good to hear from you! Even though I'm so sorry about the health problems your family has been going through. I'm hoping and praying for good outcomes for both your brothers! More later!!

Long Day Today

I took my friend to Ann Arbor, where we met up with her high school friend for lunch... Coming back I stopped to feed, etc., Tony and Churchie, stopped at the grandhuman's to give her books and pet the little sweetheart, then came home to my own babes, who are all like Mom! They have been much neglected these last 8 days, for sure. I hope the sun shines tomorrow; I hope I take some good pics to post.

Tired

Human and human girl friend went to a movie today - the museum thingy part 2 - and it was actually quite sweet... Cats and "kittens" are like, So....? And the nubie is still at the grandhuman's, probably to come back here Saturday or Sunday.... .

Still Not Getting Their Full Share Of Attention

My friend Sue Ann is staying with the nubie and the grandhuman, so last night the poor shy babes had all the hugs and kisses that they could possibly want... Ditto this morning. This afternoon, however, they were heartlessly abandoned! The (human) girl friends went to the zoo, and visited the tiger, among other way cool babies (wallabies, seals, a polar bear, a bald eagle, deer, guanacos (sp?), capabari, etc.). It was beautiful. And then we shopped! And then we had dinner. And then we shopped some more. And then we went to the grandhuman's and visited some more. Needless to say when I finally got home tonight, there were very put out little bunnies needing to be coddled (i.e., FancyFeasted)... (Works every time.) (But don't tell them I said that.)

7! Seven! Count Them! All 7!

At last - When Sue and I arrived around 12:30 this afternoon, there were no cats to be had. After a few minutes, there was AreToo, then Cyrrie, and finally Cloud. After a few pets and sweet-talking, we humans went to the grandhuman's for lunch. Then I went to feed Tony and Churchie while Sue napped. Then I went to the farmers' market, and back home to collect more cats and "kittens" - Angel - whew! And then I called and called and called : 'Toonya! Lucy! Buddy! And all this after I beamed loving reunion images at them from the runway and taxi! Eventually Lucy appeared, and then I went back to Mom's. Sue and I went for a walk, went shopping, had dinner w/ Mom, and then I came home for the third time (3's the charm, of course). There was Petunnia, queenly on the Morris chair; and there was Buddy, trotting into the living room for a quick so-ok-pet me... They're all glad to see me, but still a little bit ticked. I decided an extra round of kisses on behalf of the blog might sneak under their radar... (Never thought 7 would sound good to me...) (Nubie doing great, btw.)

Oy

Not ready at all to be away for 4-ish days! Thank God and the Grandhuman that the nubie is safe and sound and enjoying the run of a whole house as opposed to just the computer room... (Saw her today, she's looking good!) I'm going to miss my guys terribly, but expect to have a wonderful time at the wedding none-the-less....

Back Up (Laptop) Blogging

Dead mouse - and who knows if we have the right spare batts or not...? TGF laptops!

Where Things Stand

After 3 days (nights) in the basement, 2 nights in the computer room - plus side, windows and birds to watch; downside, cats and "kittens" on the other side of the door - the little one aka Nubie, aka Poppet, aka Cinderella, aka Baby Doll, aka Pretty Girl - truly lands on her feet (temporarily) - she's at the grandhuman's with the run of the whole house, and is reportedly spending her time sprawled fetchingly on the antiquish turquoise satinish broquadey couch... (Actually much prettier than I'm making it sound!)

Updating, Laptop Style

On account of the computer room is occupied... Well, Baby, aka Poppet, aka Cinderalla, is ensconced in the computer room, so we're activating the laptop as a secondary blogging port: 2 things: la nueva princessa seems to be ok, and when the human departs for Omaha for a wedding! the nubbie will be staying with the grandhuman! I'm hoping it will be loverly all around.... I still haven't decided on whether to take the laptop or not - internet junkie that I am - so if we're mostly off-line fron Wednesday through mid-day on Sunday, that will be why. Cyrrie and AreToo are hugely curious, but everyone else seems to be avoiding the issue. More manana! La Casa de los
Gatos: I loved your family history, but how do you keep it all together?? How did you introduce them? How did you help them bond???

Up-UpDate

I went to work today to teach a class, but came home determined to move Cinderella out of her pantry. It took a couple of hours of shifting things around, but she is now installed in the computer room, w/ windows! I feel so much better! (I left the pantry open downstairs in case anyone wants to sniff around...)

Should I Tell This On Her?

She really wants to be let out of the pantry - this am, after spending serious time with her, I finally said, Sorry, Sweetz, but this human just has to go to work! And she nipped me! Well, not me in the flesh, but she actually put an actual hole in a brand new pair of stockings...! I ask you!!

Another Request For Prayers And Good Energies

A little guy named Icky (Ichabod) has been missing for a couple of nights, now. Icky is sleek and slender - all black with golden eyes...

Extra Pics

PoliticalCat, these are for you - Notice the little orange dot on her back? It's very cute. And her stripey tail? Which is super-sized compared to the rest of her...

Update

Well, she used the little box! At least twice, if you know what I mean. When I got home tonight (I had symphony tickets) I spent some time cuddling her, then doing the water, food and litter things... She is very sweet, and I think she'll be even prettier when she's not quite so gaunt. (AreToo is the most suspicious - he watched me tonight from the top of the stairs as I went back and forth from the pantry to the laundry tub, etc.) I am really hoping to find her a home, since the thought of integrating her into a household of 7 adults, well, daunts. More prayers, pls.

Skinny

But safe, now, insha'allah...

Yay! And Whew!

After 2 hours at the vetz, we are back home with very good news - FLV and FIV both negative; intestinal parasites, no; no fleas! (amazing!); earmites, yes, but ears cleaned and treated; not pregnant (or at least it's extremely unlikely); vaccines started... And she was so good! Calm in the waiting room, in spite of hyperactive dogs and even one pretty stressed out cat crying in it's carrier; so good and sweet with the doctor and the technicians - who, of course, had to do all sorts of awful stuff to her... She's back in the food pantry, now, where I'm thinking that after her long ordeal - and the shots - she'll probably nap for a while. Later on I'll see if she's interested in FancyFeast. (So relieved, so grateful!) (We're going to give her 3 or 4 weeks to gain some weight before we spay - she's almost twice the size of Cloud, and weighs less.) (Oh, and the doctor thinks she's at least a year old - I was thinking 6 months.)

Rescue Blogging

About an hour and a half ago I heard a commotion - clapping, saying Be sweet, be good, I did the rounds - only to find no evidence of un-sweetness... Going to back to the bedroom I noticed Buddy, AreTtoo and Cyrrie staring mesmerized out the window - but looking down, not up, as in birding. Hmm. Looking out the window with them I see a large, long-haired, scruffy, probably dirty probably feral cat looking into a bush right under my window. Regardless of how not appealling he (presumably) looked, I took him out a dish of crunchies, and he took off. OK, feral. And then I heard another sound, and in the bush was a little whitish cat who came right out to eat. A very small female - calico coloring - even if not quite a kitten. And skinny, oh, lord, skin and bones skinny. And friendly. So as of this typing, the little cat is locked into our basement food pantry with all the amenities - if she's not pregnant already, even if she is pregnant already, I just couldn't leave her out all night at the mercy of that feral male (not his fault, I know). Tomorrow we try to get into our vetz. She's a strong personality - did not want to be locked up - ran right out and confronted AreToo before I nabbed her and stuffed her back into the pantry... Pls pray for her in terms of not having FLV, FIV, etc. (And not pregnant, also.)

Not So Sweet (Well, Maybe A Little)

I was in the computer room this morning when I heard a commotion behind me - earlier Cyrrie and Petunnia had been - sort of - sharing the garden window, and we know she has personal space issues. When Cyrrie ran out of the room I was sure that had been the problem, but in fact it was Petunnia trying to muscle in on a chair already occupied by Lucy. Bad language was happening on both sides. I scooped Miss 'Toonya up (she hates that) and toted her into the empty bedroom. Like Cloud, Petunnia can grumble and purr at the same time. As we "talked" the empty bedroom suddenly filled up with cats and "kittens" - AreToo dashed in and claimed one the the dressers; Cyrrie got the other; Buddy popped up on the bed and was told not to even think about harassing his sister. Last but not least Cloud raced in and jumped on the bed- not usual for her - but I think she was concerned about her big-sister-prima-donna-role-model and simply wanted to be there for her...

Yesterday Morning Sweethearts

It was very early - hardly any light at all - and I knew someone was snuggled up beside me but wasn't really thinking about who - I was still very snoozy. And when someone curled up on my tummy, I half thought it was the same someone, moving over. A little while later - a little bit lighter - I opened my eyes. There were 2 little faces staring down at me, eyes wide open - AreToo and Angel - just watching and waiting for their human to wake up, I guess. The sillies. The sweeties.
